Sinopsis

Ron Howard vuelve a formar equipo con heladas \ Nixon guionista Peter Morgan para adaptar la novela de Nathaniel Philbrick detallando el encuentro en alta mar desgarradora que influyó de Herman Melville Moby Dick. Situado en el invierno de 1820, la trama se centra en la lucha por la supervivencia llevada a cabo por la tripulación del barco ballenero Essex de Nueva Inglaterra después de un ataque de un cachalote pícaro hojas varados en el mar durante 90 días.
